The following teaching by Bishop Paul is based upon 2nd Peter 1 : 5-7. Applying these characteristics to your life will allow you to have a closer walk with God not only in your personal life but also your work in the ministry. The eight characteristics are...
1) Faith. First and foremost, you must have a belief that is founded in faith in God. Without this characteristic in your life, you have nothing on which to build upon.
2) Virtue. Virtue is what left Jesus' body when the woman with the issue of blood touched His garment. Virtue = power.
3) Knowledge. Knowledge is the combination of wisdom plus experience.
4) Temperance. Temperance holds your tongue in check when you want to tell off everybody. Every good soul-winner knows that seeing someone saved requires your life to show what your saying. Temperance allows you to show what you are preaching.
5) Patience. A characteristic easy to talk about but hard to put into motion. However, every good Christian must be able to practice patience even in the midst of the battle.
6) Godliness. A Christian knows that the title brings with it the challenage of being Christ-like in our actions.
7) Brotherly Kindness. Love you enemies and pray for them that would misuse you.
9) Charity. The capstone of Godly characteristics. Without showing love in our lives, we are like bird that looking for a tree to call its home. We will always be looking for something and finding nothing if we don't show Godly love in our lives.
